After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here:
What are the qualities surrounding a person who is ruled by the Spirit of God? And those ruled by the flesh?
How many times do we bow to circumstances when our character could be developed to say, “No, not on my watch?”
1. How does satan try to hijack a Christian into siding with him and have a legal right to do what he couldn’t do before? How do you break his plan to see the opposite happen?
2. How can you develop your character to maturity where you are on meat and not milk anymore? Discuss how you are no longer relying on the gifts of the Spirit because you know you are a child of God. How do you get to that place?
3. How can pride stop you from operating in God’s supernatural power? How does true repentance restore your heart and your relationship with God?
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. — Romans 5:3-4 NLT
DISCUSSION:
Many people believe their mission has to do with their giftings. We have a lot of people who were used of God mightily in the gifts of the Spirit, but their character couldn’t carry them in their mission. They could not sustain through the enemy's attacks because he came to hijack Christians in their flesh. We are not going to be disqualified from what God has called us to in this generation. We understand that our mission isn’t going to be accomplished through the gifts of the Spirit.
Paul told the Corinthians, “You think you're spiritual, but you're carnal.” He said, “You are mere babes. I would love to address you as mature, but you are mere babies.” He said, “You should be on meat now, and you're on milk”
(1 Corinthians 3:1-2). They were used so mightily in the gifts that Paul had to say, “Every one of you has a Psalm, every one of you has a prophecy and a word, but let's do it in order, and let's do a couple at a time, not all at once.
Paul said, “After I preached Christ, as an Apostle, if I let myself be body ruled, I would be disqualified from the ministry; from the race.” If Apostle Paul could be kicked out of the race, so could we. Your character must match your mission. What does that mean? When we encounter problems or trials, they help us in our endurance, and our endurance develops the character that we need. It does not disappoint us because we have the hope of Salvation. Even though we've received Jesus Christ, the Spirit was given as a deposit guaranteeing the full payment when Jesus Christ returns. Though we have Salvation, we still must walk out this life, and at the end, we get full payment. We get the rewards. It’s this process where we get saved, but then we have to walk it out. Paul warns us, “Don't yield to the flesh. Don't allow yourself to be knocked out while you're preaching Christ (1 Corinthians 9:27).
What are the qualities surrounding a person who is ruled by the Spirit of God? And those ruled by the flesh?
Romans 12:21 TPT: Never let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good.
• We must defeat evil with good. In other words, we've got to do something actively.
• Don’t let evil defeat you. It was spoken, so there’s a chance you can be defeated.
• We can lose our Salvation. Paul said, “We can be knocked out or disqualified.” That’s why we are to defeat evil with good.
• We know the outcome of yielding to the flesh and that it produces evil, and that yielding to the Spirit produces the fruits of the spirit, which are good.
• Romans 8 Paul says that those who yield to the flesh cannot please God and that yielding to the flesh reaps death, whereas yielding to the Spirit reaps life eternal.
• God wants us to have a character that can go for the long haul and endure temptation and trials.
• He wants us to get to a point in our character that we can come out with the rhema Word that God is saying and speak that out of our mouths.
• That’s why it's essential for you to not focus on the news media when they present things to you because it's not the end result. You can't let something sway you where you want to give up or change your mind.
• The devil tries to get people to side with him through prophetic dreams and visions or prophetic words spoken to us, and he waits to see how we respond.
• Disagree with it, and say, “No. That’s not happening.”
