Fellowship Project: Blog Posting
After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here:
Discuss:
1. What is stopping you from realizing that God has an unlimited supply in Heaven that He wants to give to you and provide for you?
2. What do you have that you can give to others? Even if it’s your time, your talent, or a prophetic Word to build someone else up.
3. When you get to Heaven, what are you going to find out based on scripture that you were supposed to be doing down here?
4. What will it be like when you stand before the Lord and you find out that all the characteristics of God were also in you, and you were supposed to separate yourself and become very productive?
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
—Psalm 37:4 ESV
DISCUSSION:
I remember at one point in my life I thought that I wanted to be somebody else and not myself. I was always looking at people and I’d say, "Oh, I wish I was that person." I'd hear people's stories and only focus on the ones that it seemed like something fell in their lap, like the lottery.
When I was growing up I was best friends with the most popular Christian singer in the world. Everybody thought that he was so talented. He made many albums with all the major record labels. I recall coming home from work after flying, and he would pick me up at the airport. He worked at the Church, and if I got there early, I would be able to hear him play. Everybody knew him as a piano player and guitar player, but he was a drummer and bassist. He could play those instruments upside down but he had to learn the guitar and keyboard because he couldn't lead from the drums or bass. They wanted him to be a music minister, so he agreed and said, “I'll do it,” but he didn't know how to do all of that.
He became number one in the world. I would hear him for 8 hours a day. He would practice scales on the piano and fingering on the guitar for hours and hours. Everybody thought he was born this way but it wasn't the case at all. He had the gift in him and he could sing at the drop of a hat, but he had to develop his gift. It didn't just fall in his lap. He said with tears one day, “Everybody thinks that I was born this way, but I work my butt off, and I practice all the time.” That's all he'd do is run and do scales on the piano all day. He could just walk into a church service and lead the choir and the band. We had 2,200 people in our Church.
Take a moment and allow the Father to minister to you that you are enough. He’s given you all you need to pursue the dreams inside of you.
GOD HAS GIVEN EACH ONE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY
It's so important to realize that there are certain things that God does for us, and there are particular things that we have to discern that have been given to us, that we have to implement into our lives.
When I was in Heaven, I saw that everyone has the same opportunity. People will argue with you and say, “What about those who are born in a poor country or born a certain way.” I say, “No, in the realm of the Spirit, what you're responsible for is what you were given and what you did with it.” Not one person I know that's successful had everything given to them. They had to work hard, and it’s the same way for people that are in the world.
❖ 2 Peter 1:1-4:
Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Dave:
One thing that strikes me about that verse is in verse three, “As his divine power has given us all things.” Other scriptures that come to mind; “We've been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenlies in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3). All the promises of God are yes and Amen in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 1:20). I love the words “all” and “every.” Nothing is missing from that. The question is, Are we seeing all and every? If all the promises of God are yes and Amen, then I can look through the whole Bible and I can find those promises. Then for me, the revelation is locked up in that divine nature that we get to participate. Do we know that divine nature? Do we know the Father? The big revelation, I think that's going on right now, is He's good and only good. There's no shadow of turning into Him so we can stand firm in the real world and the business world.
I would travel overseas, and I went in the name of my father. He had gone before me when I was sent overseas, I was received. They would pick me up in a nice car and put me up in a nice hotel, and in the factories, I would visit they would say, “Do you want to do this? Do you want to do that?” The revelation hit me that I was under my father's authority, thus I could walk in his authority. So, it's not only that our Father is good, but that we're not servants. He said, I no longer call you servants, but we're children and we're adopted in and a servant doesn't know the Father's business, but a son does (Galatians 4:7). So, those are the two big revelations. I see the goodness of the Father and the fact that we are sons.
Kevin:
Dave brought out a really good point about the fact that these things have been given to us and they're promises, and we need to implement them. It says that if you implement these promises, they give you the ability to partake in the divine nature, which is the word for partnership. Secondly, they cause you to escape the corruption that's in the world caused by lust. In these days that we live in those two things are very important.
How are you recognizing God’s promises have taken effect in your life and are you encountering the divine nature or partnership of God? Do you sense the separation of the corruption of the world in your life?
HEAVEN HAS AN UNLIMITED SUPPLY
❖ Philippians 4:19 NLT:
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
• Here’s another angle where God has given us what we need.
• He's going to supply your needs from His glorious riches.
Everything up there is immaculate and of the highest quality. He has glorious riches. There's so much glory coming from those riches that you can hardly look at them. You can hardly look at anything it's so bright. There’s an unlimited supply that God has. Paul is talking about wealth here and how God is going to supply your need. 2 Corinthians 8:9, talks about giving and taking offerings. Paul says that we should have the same mind that Christ had.
He was rich, and though he was rich, he left all of it and became poor for your sake so that you through His servanthood, and His becoming poor, you could become rich.
You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.
—2 Corinthians 8:9
