The Holy Spirit is the Key in This Life
The Holy Spirit will bring forth truth, which is higher than facts or observation.
~Kevin Zadai
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
—John 14:26
DISCUSSION:
And this week, I want to talk to you about the Holy Spirit. We must focus on what's important in these days that we live in, and that is how much we need the Holy Spirit. He is the One that's been given to us here on earth; Jesus and the Father are enthroned in Heaven.
When I was in Heaven, I saw the Father and the Son sitting there being worshiped.
The angels and the saints that have all lived in ages past were all there. The Holy Spirit is inside of us here on earth. We need to focus on the fact that He has given us the power and abilities to live our life out, and we need Him. So the Holy Spirit is our key in this life.
THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US UNDERSTAND GOD'S WORD
The Holy Spirit is the One Who lifts the words off the pages of the Bible and makes them real to us. He is the One Who reveals truth. Before I was born again, I read the Bible quite a bit because I went to church twice a week. So until I was 19, I would read the Bible all the time but couldn't understand. It was very frustrating. I couldn't grasp things. I would focus on the Old Testament because it was full of stories, which I could understand better. The New Testament, on the other hand, was difficult to understand. When the Holy Spirit came into my life, it was as if blinders were removed, and I could understand the Word. It has been that way for the 43 years that I've walked with God; the Holy Spirit has helped and taught me.
The Holy Spirit is everything to us. I want to discuss three different scriptures from the gospel of John. First, John 14:26 says the Helper, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in Jesus' name, will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all the things He said to you. After Jesus returned to the Father, the Holy Spirit was sent on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). He has been given to us. The key is that it says He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all the things that Jesus said. In other words, the Holy Spirit will actually make you understand the Word of God. Not only will He help you, but He will also bring what was taught back to mind.
THE HOLY SPIRIT REMINDS US OF JESUS' WORDS
Often, Holy Spirit speaks to me, reminding me of words that Jesus said. Quotes from Jesus come up in my heart as though He is talking to me. I hear the voice of God saying what He already spoke in the Bible, as though Jesus is speaking to me directly. In other words, one aspect of hearing from God is listening to the voice of Jesus through the Scripture, as quoted. That's exactly what Jesus said would take place; the Holy Spirit will bring the truth of God's word to remembrance. You will hear Jesus speaking His words to you through Scripture, which is the voice of God.
It's wise to take time to read the Bible because it is God speaking His Word to you.
The Holy Spirit wants to bring those words to your remembrance, so it's a good practice to wait on God in this manner. I have experienced the voice of God in a greater way through this process. God can speak to me about specific things that aren't necessarily a quote from the Bible; He can guide me because I have trained myself to hear His voice.
o How does the Holy Spirit bring the words of Jesus to remembrance?
The framework for hearing God's voice can be reading the Bible and letting the Holy Spirit bring the Word back to you at different times, which gets you accustomed to how God speaks. I remember many times when the scripture would come to me. It is as though Jesus was talking to me, but the Holy Spirit was taking Jesus's words and reminding me of what He had said.
It is essential that we build our relationship with God from His word; we must frame our mindset and heart on how God speaks. Let the Holy Spirit expand your understanding by bringing to your remembrance those things Jesus said.
THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS YOU INTO ALL TRUTH
But when the Helper comes, Whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth Who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. —John 15:26
The second verse is John 15:26, where Jesus expressed that when the Helper came, the Spirit of truth which proceeds from the Father, He would testify of Him. Another attribute of the Holy Spirit is that He is the Spirit of truth. Jesus says in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. He's the Spirit of truth, Who will lead you into truth.
It's crucial that when the Holy Spirit speaks, when God speaks, you know that it's truth; it's not just facts. Facts are something that can be observed, such as science. Science is observation, so theories change as scientists get updates and understanding. A person might observe something, then create science based on that observation. But then, as they investigate, they learn more, and it's revised. So you have different revisions to the facts as they obtain more information. However, you can't do that with God. It's not just observation.
GOD'S WORD IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH
The truths that are written in God's Word are absolute.
• What satan is after in your life is absolute truth. He doesn't want you to believe that anything is written in stone about God or yourself. The enemy hopes you will always be floating, oscillating, and uncertain. For example, he wants you to waver, thinking God might heal or He might not.
• Yet it says in Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24 by Jesus' stripes that He took on His back, we are healed. That's in stone; it is absolute truth. God is always healing and never makes people sick. He wants people to be well and desires to heal you.
• However, in this broken world, some people seem to receive interventions in their health, finances, and freedom from demonic oppression, while others do not.
• The absolute truth is that Jesus established His authority, ratified the new covenant for us, then went and sat at the right hand of God, period. He has done everything He will do about our salvation and the covenant (Hebrews 7:22).
