Fellowship Project: Blog Posting
After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here:
Discuss:
1. There’s only one offensive weapon and all the others are defensive. How effective is it when you just show up well dressed in your armor, wielding that sword? How is it a different kind of battle when you show up with your sword
2. Discuss: Worship, praising God, and giving testimony will destroy what the devil is doing in your life, the lives around you, and the territory in which you live.
3. Discuss what it means to have a righteous consciousness versus a sin consciousness. How do we live from a righteous consciousness based on what Christ has done on the cross for us concerning sin?
4. Pray with one another and for anyone with specific needs or prayer requests.
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37
DISCUSSION:
You can shock the devil by responding correctly. He doesn’t expect you to be forceful in your authority against him. I want to encourage you that you need to use the authority God has given you. The way that He has given this to us is through conquest. Jesus beat the enemy. He made a public spectacle of him, and He triumphed over him at the cross, and he destroyed the works of the devil, as John talks about (1 John 3:8). You have to remember these things all the time, no matter what is happening. At Warrior Notes, we haven’t backed off in these last several years of all the things happening in the world. We have not backed off; we are well rehearsed and aware of our covenant rights and the authority given to us. We know that we need to encourage all of you out there to keep going and operating in authority and praying in faith. The devils don’t expect people to be aggressive after they’ve been hit and attacked, but we, as warrior Christians, are going to stand up against the enemy and be forceful. We’re going to use our authority and expect God to move in a mighty way.
We’re more than conquerors, and God came in the Old Testament and scattered the enemies of Israel. We’re the Gentiles in the New Covenant, and we can also expect God to do these mighty things.
Psalm 34:1 NLT:
I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.
• This was when David was pretending to be insane in front of Abimelech to get him sent away and escape from him.
• It is paramount that we worship God, and we worship Him in times of trouble, no matter what.
• At the time, David would have been embarrassed to act that way; he had to do what he had to do.
• The Apostle Paul was surrounded by people in the city, and they wanted to kill him, so they lowered him in a basket through a wall outside the city at night to escape (Acts 9:25).
• There are times when you just have to do what you have to do. It seems embarrassing, but sometimes God provides a way of escape, and it’s a certain way of doing things.
Why is worship so important? How might you want to accelerate or go further in your time of worship and thanksgiving to the Lord?
It’s very interesting that we only have one offensive weapon given to us in the armor, and that’s the sword of the spirit. I believe that part of the sword of the spirit is worship. I want to emphasize that and talk about that. We need to have worship and thanksgiving as part of our daily life. I constantly, even out loud, will just say, “Thank you, Lord.” My spirit just wants to exalt God right there in any situation. People around me that don’t even know ask, “What are you thanking God for?” I say, “I just had it come out of my spirit. I just felt like I should worship God.” You’re doing battle against evil spirits. Evil spirits are thrown back when you start worshiping God. When you start prophesying, and when you don’t respond the way that they think you should, they don’t expect it; you can shock them and paralyze them.
THE ARMOR OF GOD
Ephesians 6:11-14 NLT:
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
• We need to emphasize truth in everything we do.
• We’re not supposed to mislead people or lie or misrepresent God.
• We are to ensure we’re only speaking the truth in love.
• When you do, it bothers the evil spirits because they hate the truth.
• We need to be established in the truth.
• The breastplate of righteousness, God’s righteousness, is His right standing.
• It doesn’t have to do with the fact that you, on your own, make yourself righteous; it’s talking about the position that God has placed you through Jesus Christ.
This is important, and you need to talk about this among yourselves because many people don’t have a righteousness consciousness; they have a sin consciousness.
• If we’re forgiven of our past sins, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from our present acts of disobedience or any kind of sin that we would commit daily, we can confess those sins, and He’s faithful and just to forgive us for our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
• The belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness is all based on what Jesus already did for us positionally.
• I have the consciousness that I’m righteous. I don’t think about being sinful all the time.
• There are times when we do things wrong, whether we are committing sins of omission or sins of commission.
• There are two different ways to talk about this, you can sin by not doing something you’re supposed to do, but then you can commit a sin, too as well.
• There’s omission and commission, but the Lord has cleansed us from our past sins, and He cleanses us daily as we walk with Him, confess our sins and have fellowship with Him.
• That keeps us in the love of God, in our righteous position.
• I think about the right standing I have, not because of my righteousness or behavior, but because of His love and grace that He’s bestowed on us so that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
• You have this armor on all the time spiritually.
• Why do we think about all the wrong things we do instead of thinking we’ve been made righteous in the sight of our Father by the blood of Jesus?
• Remember that this is the truth, and that’s how God sees you.
