Some people take years to learn how to be obedient and follow through. How many times have we delayed something and did not get it done? Even 30 years after encountering Jesus, I still think about what He said. So now, if I see something that needs to be done, I get it done immediately. I am not perfect, but I've learned to no longer delay things. If it needs to be done, just do it.
The Lord showed me that if you do not take care of what needs to be done, it may not be taken care of at all. For instance, if you see something on the floor in your room or office, it might stay there if you don't pick it up. When I worked for Southwest Airlines, I saw that if something needed to be cleaned or picked up on the airplane, employees would often think someone else would get to it. If it was not taken care of after two or three flights, I realized I had to do it. Because I was the supervisor, I instructed the other employees to be more diligent as well. Yet the bottom line was that the Lord taught me that if you don't pick something up that's on the floor, it might just stay there. The same concept applies to your life and your church.
If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities.
Luke 16:10 NLT
You must be immediate about your obedience because there are times when things will not be done if you don't do them. You may have seen something on the floor and didn't bend down and pick it up, then find it still there the next day. The Lord showed me that if it were a $10 or $100 bill, it wouldn't stay on the floor very long. But if it's a scrap or a piece of garbage in your car or room, the temptation may be to ignore it. Cleaning doesn't happen by itself. We must learn to be obedient and faithful even in what seems to be insignificant areas.
GOOD LEADERS TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Good leaders take responsibility and are accountable.
• Sometimes we lack motivation because we don't realize that our immediate obedience does generate a reward and recognition in Heaven.
• I have learned the importance of not only being obedient, but being immediate.
• True leaders just take care of things.
• Authentic leaders also train others to be responsible as well.
• Historical leaders are those who have replicated themselves in others. That's what we want to do at Warrior Notes. I want everyone connected to me to learn what I've learned and then transfer that to others.
FAVOR COMES WHEN GOD LOOKS AT YOU
The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you, and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24–26
You will start to see that your immediate obedience brings favor; it causes God to see you, and you get His attention. When God is looking at you, beams of light come from His face. That happened to Moses when he was on the mountain with God. After His encounter, he had rays of light coming from his own face. He had to cover his face because it glowed (Exodus 34:31–35). I saw that favor is when God stares at you to the point where those beams hit you. This may be a child-like perspective of favor, but it is happening in my life. I am receiving favor because God is staring at me. It has nothing to do with me and everything to do with Him.
I can tell you that immediate obedience is a key to Heaven moving in your life. If God speaks to you and tells you to do something, do it very quickly because that is your catalyst for what you need in this life. If He is telling you to do something for someone else, such as giving financially, an act of kindness, or releasing a message to them, that needs to be done very quickly. That is the catalyst for the angels to work. You will have God's attention, and He will certainly have yours. You will see Him move.
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23–24
I have made it a practice to pray in the Spirit to see if God wants me to give a word of encouragement to somebody. I found that He would give me words as I was faithful and obedient to Him. Words are seeds that you can sow into others. You can also sow finances, acts of kindness, and time. Whatever you can do, just be obedient when God tells you to do it, and you'll get Heaven's attention.
Most of us don't realize that we do get rewards and that God shines his face on us when we obey Him. He has a reward system. Remember, Hebrews 11:6 says that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
PRAYER:
Father, I thank You so much for all of the Warrior Fellowships. Thank You for my family, everyone all over the world that is agreeing with You and Your word. By the Spirit of God, release such powerful encouragement that we will have faces that glow, just like Moses. Moses glowed because he encountered the face of Your presence there on the mountain, and I thank You, Lord, that You're smiling upon us right now and that favor is coming. Thank You, Lord, that we have Your attention when we are obedient, so give us grace to always be immediate in our obedience. I declare that we are not going to be hindered any longer. We will do the works that you called us to do. Thank You for Your power.
In the name of Jesus, I break poverty, sickness, and confusion off of my family right now. Thank You, Holy Spirit, that You're ruling and reigning. Lord God, I thank You for giving us the power to obtain wealth in this life and that You will help us receive those finances to help others. Make us distribution centers for Your glory. I pray that we see You smile on us, Lord, and receive our reward when we meet You on that day, in Jesus's name, amen.
1. Discuss the difference between obedience and immediate obedience. According to Acts 17:26–27, how does our cooperation with God's great plan impact others?
2. According to Luke 16:10, how will the Lord promote us if we are faithful with small things?
3. Have you neglected some "small things" or areas of life? If so, what steps can you take to correct them?
4. According to this study, what gets God's attention? What happens when He looks at you?
5. What happens when two or three believers come into agreement with Heaven's agenda according to Matthew 18:19–20? Discuss ways that your group can come together and overthrow the enemy's agenda.
