Jesus is the Word – Week 36

Jesus is the Word – Week 36

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
—John 1:1-4 NKJV

For me, this is the center of all truth! The center of the universe. What Kathi Zadai tried to express at the start of the video is beyond description. How can you explain the pearl of great price worth more than all you have? How can you describe the unspeakable gift?

I gave a discussion once on John 1:1-3, and for the discussion, I did a short study and found that in Greek thought the logos was a mysterious force responsible for creation. How fitting for John to start his letter in this fashion. Those of us who know Jesus count the words we read in the Bible as life itself. But try to imagine being Greek in the first century and hearing or reading John’s words. Even if you were not saved, you would be astounded! If you believed John, you would jump out of your first-century socks! The mysterious logos became flesh and dwelt among us in human form! This is Who Jesus is! He is so much more than what philosophy or science can bring to mind. The word of God made flesh.

“In the volume of the book, it is written of Me.”

“You search the scriptures, but it is Me they speak of.”

God in human form: born to die to save humanity.

Psalm 40:7,8
7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll:

8 I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.”

John 5:39,40
39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
NKJV

How do we keep this Word? How do we keep our word? Boy do I fall short at times. But since God keeps His Word, I am secure and safe. It should point me in the way of living for the Cross and not for my selfish desires. That is a good prayer.
