Dr. Kevin Zadai’s suggested exercises are listed below. I’ve added my comments here to start the session exercises. See the website Jesus-abc.net and click on the”fellowship” link then “video” to find the corresponding transcript of this week’s lesson.

I may purposely leave a short comment so others might comment on Dr. Kevin’s exercises on the blog. Your comment can be lengthy but stay on topic. You can comment on these questions or anything that strikes you in Dr. Kevin’s discussion. It does not matter if five people have already commented on the same topic/question. You have something to share and do not know whose life you will affect.

Week 07_2023

Good Day everyone! Let’s start with the first thought presented to us.

Q o Why was there such a clash between Jesus and the Pharisees?

God’s ways are so much higher than humanity’s way. It holds for all of us. We strive for perfection, but true perfection only comes by resting in the finished work of the Cross. While we have our part, we must walk in His ways. There’s a phrase that goes back to Jesus’ day. Walk in the footsteps of the Rabbi. The scriptures the young disciples studied would have a drop of honey placed upon them to illustrate that the words of God are nourishing and taste good.

Psalm 34: 8
Taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
NASB

The Pharisees were placing their hope in a political position and not fully trusting their scriptures. They should have recognized the Messiah, especially when He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, precisely fulfilling the prophecy on the exact day given in Daniel.

But we, too, struggle to rely on the power of Christ. We forget to pray or neglect to. We put our hope in our physical strength at times when we should be relying upon the Lord.

Christ came to destroy man’s empty striving for perfection. The Pharisees strived for perfection in the flesh. We know this would create a disaster for anyone in this attempt. They believed their striving had given them a place in this world, but God sustained them. They became corrupted, as we all do when relying upon our whims. The light exposed their corruption when they came to face to face with God.

John 3:19
19 And this is the judgement, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the Light and does not come to the Light, so that his works may not be exposed; 21 but the one practicing the truth comes to the Light, that his works may be manifest as having been done in God.

Q 1. According to 1 Corinthians 2:10, how does the Holy Spirit reveal the deep things of God to us? Discuss how the deep things of God cause us to participate in supernatural events.

By Spirit and Truth.

1 Corinthians 2:11,12
11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
NLT

God has freely given us His Spirit, but it cost the life of His Son! The wages of sin are death, but we have life and life more abundantly.

John 3:5-8
5 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”
NLT

One thing that amazes me is the corrupt could not recognize Jesus. Not 2,000 years ago nor today, whoever they may be. You could be in a seminary, sometimes called cemeteries, or a scholar living in Jesus’ day. You could recite the Bible from memory, yet they did not know Christ when He stood before them. Think of all the miracles Christ performed! Then they wanted entertainment and asked Messiah for a sign. Yet there were two people who saw Jesus when He was a baby and knew Who He was. One of them was Simion.

Luke 2:25-32-25-32 The Message (MSG)
In Jerusalem at the time, there was a man, Simeon by name, a good man, a man who lived in the prayerful expectancy of help for Israel. And the Holy Spirit was on him. The Holy Spirit had shown him that he would see the Messiah of God before he died. Led by the Spirit, he entered the Temple. As the parents of the child Jesus brought him in to carry out the rituals of the Law, Simeon took him into his arms and blessed God: God, you can now release your servant; release me in peace as you promised. With my own eyes I’ve seen your salvation; it’s now out in the open for everyone to see: A God-revealing light to the non-Jewish nations, and of glory for your people Israel.

The Spirit flows where it will and settles where it finds rest in the hearts and minds of those who thirst for righteousness and truth. The dove that left Noah’s Ark brought back an olive branch; the raven sought its own.

Here are three more questions: After hearing/reading the lesson for this week, answer them.

Q 2. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit lives inside of us. What is His role in our lives? Why is He called the Spirit of Truth?

Q 3. How did the Pharisees react to Jesus, and why? How have the religious denominations of today gotten off track?

Q 4. Discuss how Jesus dealt with the religious spirit when He was on earth. How did Jesus express the Father’s heart to the people through His ministry?

Pray with one another and for anyone with specific needs or prayer requests.

Please remember to pray for me and all who receive the weekly email at Warrior Notes Tribeca, including the ministry team and Dr. Kevin Zadai.

If anyone has a suggestion, they can post a comment here, send me an email, or both. What can we do as a body to support a local mission such as the Bowery Mission in NYC? The links for this mission and others like it are in each email I send weekly.

Stay in the Lord, and don’t let anything steal your joy. Circumstances come our way, but circumstances cannot take complete control of us. We should not be given over to situations but, as Christians, take appropriate actions when the waves rage.

God Bless you and keep you!

Give us your response to the questions Dr. Kevin Zadai asks us to discuss in the video for this week’s home fellowship. In addition, you might want to share your thoughts on any of the questions for the week’s lesson by adding a Comment on Kevin’s suggested questions.

Share your personal experiences. Comment on any part of the video and not just necessarily the questions Dr. Kevin suggest. Tell us what God is saying to you. Share it with us, but first, make sure to watch this week’s lesson video or/and read the transcript on the Warrior Notes Tribeca website.

God Bless, and thank you,
Scott
