Faith is Obedience – Week 38

Faith is Obedience – Week 38

Answering the project that Dr. Kevin recommends associated with the home fellowship video, my responses are below.

How has obeying the command of God affected your life?

Well the first and foremost God commands that we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. That in itself, of course, is The Pearl of Great Price. So the rich young ruler (Bible commenters believe it was Mark himself Jesus was referring to) instructed to sell all he had to give to the poor and then follow Jesus.

The rich young ruler was dismayed by Jesus’s response to his statement of keeping all the commandments since his youth. In essence, we do this when we leave behind all those things that entangle us in this life whether rich or poor, and purchase that pearl of great price by just accepting the love of God expressed in the work of Jesus the Messiah yet hold on to somethings that are hindrances to the task of Following Him.

So, to truly love God from this point forward, we must have our minds renewed by the washing of the word; by our gathering and fellowshipping together; and understanding and knowing that we are in a hostile environment – a parched and dry ground where the world, the flesh that we have, and the devil are working against the Holy Spirit which indwells the believer who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

How has this disobedience caused you to move towards obedience? And what does it do when we disobey God?
It truly brings pain and suffering in our lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  To avoid these circumstances, we must walk in obedience and let God’s word be true and every man a liar. But let us all say as, for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  And then walk in that obedience. God help us all.

What does it mean to love God?
I expressed my views on this question below, along with questions one through four.

I always thought that James said faith without works is dead, meaning that we should produce good deeds. The good deeds being helping the poor, the sick, visiting those in hospitals and in prison, clothing those who don’t have money to buy clothes, and so forth.

But Dr. Kevin Zadai mentions that the good works James is speaking about could very well mean just obeying God’s word in the sense of turning from sin and living a Godly life in our thoughts and in our deeds. It’s easy to avoid the deeds it would seem at least for me. But keeping my thoughts clear has always given me a greater challenge. But under Kevin Zadai’s ministry, I have to say that that’s all changed. Being ministered from a place of love where the minister is walking in that love and producing these good works has generated for me in my innermost being – my heart – a desire for Godly living in all areas and this brings success in my thought life. And thoughts could be destructive not just in the sensual style but also in anger. Even when we’re seeking justice we may not have the discernment to know what is just and what is not. That’s why we read in the Old Testament and “eye for an eye in a tooth for and a tooth”. To keep more significant harm coming to society, God instituted that no more harm done should be required of the guilty. So there was a restriction imposed on society by God that we do not seek to do any more harm than what was done to us in our judicial system. Until Grace has come in a measure that we can see, feel, and touch as John puts it in his Gospel that is Jesus Christ the Logos made flesh.

Dr. Kevin Zadai points out that we were given two choices which are to obey or not to obey. One brings blessing, the other a curse.

And Jesus tells us in the New Testament that the two greatest commandments for those who obey are to love God and to love your neighbor. And, of course, it would be impossible to truly love our neighbor without first understanding the love of God and having a love that comes through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit flowing through us. Then we can love as Jesus has commanded us to do so those about us – our neighbor.

It’s so powerful to me as I watch the various Dr. Kevin videos on YouTube many of which are on the website Jesus-abc.net, I have such a great desire to show my love for Jesus Christ – for God, by loving the Truth and working in the truth in my heart, soul, and being! I have not felt this good since my early days in the church where I had a child-like faith.

Dr. Kevin mentions Noah and how he walked out his faith in a parched and dry ground and that was where he built the ark – a ship, a form of salvation and which would eventually present a type, as some scholars have mentioned, of the rapture when the ark was lifted by the rising waters. Very interesting. The correlation here between the dry ground we may be living in. That is the surrounding fallen world and the accomplishment of what we must do. But we have the Helper, we have the promise of the covenant, we have the curse breaker, the Holy Spirit indwelling us! What an excellent point praise God!

Thank you and God Bless,
