I can relate to the man waiting to be healed. I think we all can. Kevin mentions that is where the Church is today. I have been there quite a bit myself. My complaints. Though I want to teach a lesson, I complain as well at times. The devil does not care what mayhem he creates. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He is the Father of Lies. We all have to decern the truth.
Let’s look at John 1:5,6
Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
—John 1:5-6
Walk in victory! Don’t just lie there. Sometimes our miracle is right before us and we don’t even see it. Do we see the victory the Cross brings to us and to the whole world? If so, are we sharing the Gospel? Are we a light or a dark cloud? What proceeds from our mouths and what is in our hearts?
Setting the prisoners free – Restoring eyesight to the blind Luke 4:18:
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners.

The prison door was open before the lame man. Jesus the Way, the entrance into the temple, the truth, and the life (The Holy of Holy). All the man needed was the desire for the One Who was right there before him. But we all get our wheels stuck in the mud of this life at times and don’t see the solution even if it is staring right at us.
The prophecy in Isaiah states that the restoration of the sight to those who do not see the prison door open while they sit there.
An analogy I heard comes to mind. A person was given tickets to a cruise ship and had first-class accommodations. Not realizing that the tickets were the best one could have, he ate meagerly and missed the most exciting events on board. Meanwhile, he could have feasted and lived life to the fullest on the cruise. Life can be like that when we are looking in the wrong direction. What do we want? Seek first the Kingdom, then all these things will be added.
Can we adlib about the lame man at the Pool of Bethesda? Can you see this poor fellow attempting to get near the edge of the pool and tripping those who managed to get ahead of him? Can you see him hitting people with his cane and complaining? I think we all do that. But God has made a way.
Please share your comments on the blog concerning this topic Dr. Kevin Zadai has given us for this week’s lesson.
God Bless and thank you,
Scott
