Welcome to week 11 of the 2023 Home Fellowship Bible study under Dr. Kevin Zadai’s Warrior Notes Ministry. Here are my comments and insights on Dr. Kevin’s Home Fellowship Lesson for this week. I urge you to share your comments at the Comment link.

Dr. Kevin Zadai’s suggested exercises are listed below. I’ve added my comments here to start the session exercises. See the website Jesus-abc.net and click on the”fellowship” link then “video” to find the corresponding transcript of this week’s lesson.

I may purposely leave a short comment so others might comment on Dr. Kevin’s exercises on the blog. Your comment can be lengthy but stay on topic. You can comment on these questions or anything that strikes you in Dr. Kevin’s discussion. It does not matter if five people have already commented on the same topic/question. You have something to share and do not know whose life you will affect.

Week 11_2023
The Joy of the Lord. It pleased God to bruise Him. That’s a verse that tells us it pleased God to bruise the feet of Jesus so that God can have you as His possession in Heaven. Let’s take a look at that verse in the famed Isiah 53 prophecy concerning the Suffering Messiah – Messiah Ben Yoseph speaking of the suffering of Christ approximately 800 years before He was born in Bethlehem.

Isa 53:10-11
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge, My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
New King James Version

We read in the New Covenant, which was promised in the Old that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten (fathered) Son that whomsoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. (My paraphrase.)

If you have never read the Suffering Servant prophecy, I suggest you do by searching for Isaiah 53 and pick a Bible version.

Christ suffered grief beyond description so we can have joy unspeakable.

1 Peter 1:8-9
whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
King James Version (KJV)

The Love of God will never cease to amaze us. In Him, we move and have our being; there is no shadow in His turning. He is light, love, and joy. He is the light of humanity.

Let us get to the suggested exercises Dr. Kevin suggests:

Q o Discuss the difference between how a person’s spirit and soul are influenced.

What is the difference between joy and happiness?

I think of John Denver’s song, “Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy…” But God’s joy goes beyond that. Those of us who have God as our Savior cannot help but be happy due to God’s Joy … that unspeakable, indescribable Joy God so graciously gives His children.

One thing about John Denver that does come to mind is that he loved to sing about the natural beauty in country living. He sang about the creation and the joy it brings the soul. The creation does sing of God’s manifest creation and that it is His.

Pineapple cheesecake makes me happy, but Joy only comes from the Lord.

Q 1. We are not the source of our own joy; we are connected to the Source (John 15). Discuss how this revelation helps us to be more consistent in our response to circumstances.

The vine supplies life to its branches. The branches being nourished bear fruit. Our lives should be full of fruit, and one of those is Joy. That cheesecake may make you happy for a while, but when the calories settle in, and you feel bloated, you know you harmed your diet.

Q 2. Discuss the characteristics of the Holy Spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23. How are these traits transferred to your spirit?

Gal 5:22-26
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
New King James Version

Interestingly, we read no law stops the fruit of the Spirit, and Jesus tells us Himself that loving God and your neighbor is the Torah.

This is the Torah:

  1. Love
  2. Joy
  3. Peace
  4. Longsuffering
  5. Kindness
  6. Goodness
  7. Faithfulness
  8. Gentleness
  9. Self-control

Q 3. The joy of the Lord is a supernatural endowment that you can always tap into. Discuss ways you can access this unlimited supply when you need strength.

We must always remember that Christ has shed His blood to buy us back from the dead things in this life. He bought us back from death. Death sting has to lose its grip on you even if you experience the death of a loved one. You must, and I repeat, you must walk by faith in Christ and the resurrection of the dead. Death is swallowed up in victory. We have to live this way. We have to make it our reality. No matter what is going on, trust in the Lord, lean upon His shoulder, and not upon your comprehension. Stay away from those who are not in the Way. They are marching toward death. You are heading toward life eternal. Never, never forget that!

Q 4. According to this Bible Study, what does it mean to be a leader? Why is it so important for a godly leader to maintain the joy of the Lord?

I think I just answered this one in Q3.

Q 5. When facing challenges, are you usually unshakeable, trusting God, or do you allow emotions to dictate your reaction? What does it mean to “draw from a higher standard” when facing difficult circumstances?

See Q3.

Pray with one another and for anyone with specific needs or prayer requests.

Please remember to pray for me and everyone receiving the weekly email at Warrior Notes Tribeca, including the ministry team and Dr. Kevin Zadai.

If anyone has a suggestion, they can post a comment here, send me an email, or both. What can we do as a body to support a local mission such as the Bowery Mission in NYC? The links for this mission and others like it are in each email I send weekly.

Stay in the Lord, and don’t let anything steal your joy. Circumstances come our way, but circumstances cannot take complete control of us. As Christians, we should not be given over to situations but take appropriate actions when the waves rage.

God Bless you and keep you!

Give us your response to the questions Dr. Kevin Zadai asks us to discuss in the video for this week’s home fellowship. In addition, you might want to share your thoughts on any of the questions for the week’s lesson by adding a Comment on Kevin’s suggested questions.

Share your personal experiences. Comment on any part of the video and not just necessarily the questions Dr. Kevin suggest. Tell us what God is saying to you. Share it with us, but first, make sure to watch this week’s lesson video or/and read the transcript on the Warrior Notes Tribeca website.

God Bless, and thank you,
Scott
