Welcome to week 20 of the 2023 Home Fellowship Bible study under Dr. Kevin Zadai’s Warrior Notes Ministry. Here are my comments and insights on Dr. Kevin’s Home Fellowship Lesson for this week. I urge you to share your comments at the Comment link.
Dr. Kevin Zadai’s suggested exercises are listed below. I’ve added my comments here to start the session exercises. See the website Jesus-abc.net and click on the”fellowship” link then “video” to find the corresponding transcript of this week’s lesson.
I may purposely leave a short comment so others might comment on Dr. Kevin’s exercises on the blog. Your comment can be lengthy but stay on topic. You can comment on these questions or anything that strikes you in Dr. Kevin’s discussion. It does not matter if five people have already commented on the same topic/question. You have something to share and do not know whose life you will affect.
Week 20_2023
Q1 Discuss the reality that Jesus’ words, the red letters in our Bible, are Who He is as a Person. Describe His personality and manner of communication.
Jesus’s words in red: One thing that’s remarkable for me is to contemplate that having the Holy Spirit indwell us through the work of Christ – through His shed blood – reveals to us the depth and wisdom contained in the Bible. Now we have Jesus’s words themselves revealing through our hearts and to our minds the depths of God himself. So we read the word knowing it’s the word of God, and then we have Jesus himself speaking the living word that we have recorded for us in textual format. And we have that verse that says our spirit receives the testimony of the truth of the Holy Spirit indwelling us confirms the truth. This witness also bears witness that we are heirs of the Kingdom to come.
Romans 8:14-17
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
NKJV
Q2 The Bible represents Jesus correctly; however, ministries often do not. Why is it important to understand this discrepancy? How can we correct our own perception of Jesus?
The discrepancies between Christ’s words in red and what we feel, perceive, and communicate are due to the veiling – the separation of this world and the Heavenly realm. We do look through a glass darkly in our fallen state. Even if we hear correctly, our perception may not be correct.
The one thing that struck me was when I saw the first show Dr. Kevin was on. The show reenacted Jesus speaking to Kevin during his near-death experience. Jesus mentioned destructive words we speak, idle words, have to be dealt with, while looking very seriously at Kevin and then smiled. I remember hearing on the Sid Roth show the actor playing the role of Jesus say, “You know I meant what I said.” So, our words carry a lot of weight.
So, I think we view Jesus’ red words based on several different things. I think we confuse our ‘position’ in the Kingdom of God, which is in Heaven, because of the work of the Cross and the things Jesus demands from us as His followers. I think due to this confusion; we fear condemnation – damnation. I believe we distance ourselves from God due to this confusion.
But we have a secure place because of the Cross, and then we appropriately follow Christ. I think we confuse these two notions. I believe this is what causes a lot of confusion. Your Salvation is based on the work of the Cross. You cannot make Jesus’ work better. You cannot make the Cross dirty or weaken it. You can only accept it.
Ministries are trying to get people to follow the word as best as they can usually do not preach this. But God’s word is a two edge sword. We can preach the security of our Salvation and then preach on what is lost. We gain Heaven, but we have weeping and gnashing of teeth in Hell and Heaven due to loss. I can give a list of world-renowned preachers who would tell you that. We don’t have to fear damnation because of the work of the Cross. We have to run that good race, and Brother James says even the demons believe Jesus is the Son of God, but it does them no good.
So now, where do we fit into all that. As Dr. Kevin says, positionally, we are saved. I heard one pastor say, I don’t want you to go to Heaven with the hairs on the back of your legs burning off. I want you to come in with some rewards. Because we’ll pass through fire and whatever is chaff will be burned and whatever is worthy will stand the fire, and we’ll have as an inheritance. I think that’s a great way to put it.
Q3 When Jesus spoke to His disciples, knowing His time with them was limited, what did He hope they would do? According to the study, why didn’t they always respond well? How can we learn from this and come up higher with Jesus?
As I mentioned, watching Dr. Kevin on the Sid Roth show and seeing the reenactment of Jesus telling him about idle words and then saying, “You know I meant what I said.” was sobering. We can take every red letter word in the Bible and hear Jesus saying, “You know I meant I said.”.
Watching the Ten Commandments every Easter on primetime TV and The King of Kings on primetime TV seasonally reminded us of God. One thing that has helped me see the seriousness of all this is getting back to my first love and calling. That is the teach and to do a little preaching. Dr. Kevin’s ministry helped a great deal with getting me focused and on target. So has this home fellowship study due to my input and working in this area. I always suggest people comment and participate because you could be doing what God wants you to do, and you can affect a life that may come across your post on the blog online that you’ll never come across in person.
Q4 The red letters in the Bible are very powerful statements; they are not mere suggestions. What are they designed to do in your life?
I think we’ve been touching base on this. I think the red words are supposed to revolutionize our life. I’m unsure if I know how to express my following few statements. I guess reading the red words and watching things on TV, namely, The Passion, The King of Kings as a child, and any show depicting biblical themes and seeing the cruelty distances us psychologically. We live in a world of comfort, comparatively speaking. People during Jesus’s life were being crucified simply for not living according to pagan laws. It was not an easy life. You could walk home after school as a child and see your neighbor crucified.
Today this is TV – it’s Hollywood, something we’re distant from. It’s esoteric in one sense as we distance ourselves from this cruel reality. We are so distant from the pain and suffering of the Cross. If you watch The Passion, we naturally recoil from the reality of the torture. Who wants to get so close to so much pain? We shield our consciousness.
But this is the reality. The red letters. The color of blood. But we have to come to grips with the reality of Who Jesus is. I recently put out a message called The Rose of Columbine. It is about Rachel Scott, who was shot in 1999 during the Columbine High School shootings. I discuss how Jesus told His disciples, saying, “I have authority to lay down my life, and I have authority to take it back again.” Then, within a few verses, He’s telling Pontius Pilate, “You have no authority…” He was just whipped to shreds and had a crown of thorns hammered on His head. Now He has a chance to give a testimony for His case. Yet He remains silent. That’s why Pilate was so shocked as we read in the Gospel. He was astounded that Jesus didn’t say anything in His defense. And that’s when Pilate said don’t you know I have authority and Jesus told him you have no authority unless it’s given to you by My Father in Heaven (John 19:11 BSB). This is Who we’re dealing with here. This is our Savior. We are so distant from that reality that it’s almost like a show in one sense. But it’s much more than that. It is our reality. This is our God! There will be a refiner’s fire when we stand before the Lord. Thank God we are saved!
Q5 The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth; He is the Spirit of reality. How does He help us to receive and understand Jesus’ words?
I leave question 5 open; of course, anyone can comment on any of the questions and whatever the Lord puts on your heart. It doesn’t have to necessarily follow the same lines of thought that I’ve placed.
Pray with one another and for anyone with specific needs or prayer requests.
Please remember to pray for me and everyone receiving the weekly email at Warrior Notes Tribeca, including the ministry team and Dr. Kevin Zadai.
If anyone has a suggestion, they can post a comment here, send me an email, or both. What can we do as a body to support a local mission such as the Bowery Mission in NYC? The links for this mission and others like it are in each email I send weekly.
Stay in the Lord, and don’t let anything steal your joy. Circumstances come our way, but circumstances cannot take complete control of us. Christians should not be given over to situations but take appropriate actions when the waves rage.
God Bless you and keep you!
Give us your response to the questions Dr. Kevin Zadai asks us to discuss in the video for this week’s home fellowship. In addition, you might want to share your thoughts on any of the questions for the week’s lesson by adding a Comment on Kevin’s suggested questions.
Share your personal experiences. Comment on any part of the video and not just necessarily the questions Dr. Kevin suggest. Tell us what God is saying to you. Share it with us, but first, make sure to watch this week’s lesson video or/and read the transcript on the Warrior Notes Tribeca website.
God Bless, and thank you,
Scott
