Well, let me just start with the first statement in doctor Kevin’s home Fellowship Bible study for week 20. One thing I learned in theology class when we speak of one another we are commenting on the workmanship of Jesus Christ.
Everyone is made in the image of God. Even those that are perishing for eternity are made in the image of God. I remember I heard on Christian radio many well-educated Christian men criticizing a pop rockstar who will remain nameless here. One of the men in this group of pastors suggested that if you feel there are so many things wrong with this individual, why not pray for the man instead of criticizing him.
I think that is precisely how we are to respond to the world around us. And I get that sense in the home fellowship study here and I think you will too as you read through it or watch the video. I suggest you do both.
This reminds me of James’ epistle where he says we judge the Law when we’re critical of individuals in Christ. We are critical of the one Who fulfilled the Law. The Law was written so it might be fulfilled by the Son of Man. We judge the workmanship of the Cross when we are hypercritical of a brother or sister. Something to think about before we point fingers and speak out against one who is called by Christ.
Let’s look at some of Dr. Kevin Zadia’s questions:
Q. “…how Jesus is the rewarder and finisher of your faith. What does that mean?
A.
We have to remember that God is good. And that this is not just a cliche, we say. He is a rewarder of the just and the unjust.
Being in Christ, being saved, we are Justified!
Please do not be dismayed by my comment that God will reward the unjust as well.
If you are in Christ, then you are Justified! Do not forget that!
To become unjustified, you would have the ability to make the work of the Cross weaker. You do not have that ability. You cannot lose your salvation. You cannot make the Cross stronger or better or cleaner. You do not dirty the Cross or make it weaker or less effective. As Dr. Kevin Zadai would say, “The lights in Heaven don’t dim when you sin.”
The only thing we bring to the table is our sins and weaknesses. So then, God washes us in the blood of His own Son – the God-Man – the Son of Man. Meaning we are made into a new creation. This is why I have links through this and each blog on this site. So that if you have not received Jesus (Yeshua) as your Lord and Savior, you can do that with the prayer there!
I elaborate because I’ve heard so many things that are not true coming from people who’ve been sitting in churches decade after decade. I will mention one example below.
My wife and I know an elderly woman who has several grandchildren. One day while playing with her grandchildren, she accidentally broke her wrist. Now she did not know her wrist was broken. She did know that there was something wrong. By the time she realized her wrist was broken. The doctor’s offices were closed and they would not open again until the following workday which was Monday. At that time her wrists had to be broken again through a very painful process and then reset properly.
This grandma mentioned she believed God had broken her wrist because she was spending too much time playing with her grandchildren and not enough time with Him. I guess this stems from the idea that everything that happens on planet earth is brought about by God, which contradicts Scripture. This woman had to be sitting in churches for at least five decades. I get a bit angry when I think about what could have been that caused her to have this theology. If someone cannot tell the deeds of the devil and the deeds of God, what kind of peaching is going on in our churches?
I mention all this to drive home a point I hope all can come to grips with, and that is God does not break grandmother’s or grandfather’s bones because they’re not spending enough time with Him. This is not the God of the Bible. And this is precisely what I had told my wife as soon as she mentioned it to me.
So praise God. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. I can assure you grandma had diligently sought the Lord all those years.
Dr. Kevin’s study this week suggests we just spend time with Him. Just think of yourself being right there with Jesus. He knows all that there is to know about you and do not forget He died on your behalf so He could do just to spend time with you! You were created for fellowship.
Those who read this blog and truly know Him know He is the reward! I will leave the rest of Dr. Kevin’s suggested questions for comments on the blog here.
Please share your comments on the blog concerning this topic Dr. Kevin Zadai has given us for this week’s lesson.
God Bless and thank you,
Scott
