Welcome to week 37 of the 2026 Home Fellowship Bible study under Dr. Kevin Zadai’s Warrior Notes Ministry. Here are my comments and insights on Dr. Kevin’s Home Fellowship Lesson for this week. Q ) Discuss the fight in this world to become something that we are not.

This is a very good question to ask yourself. First and foremost, I think most of us know to refrain from the things of this world, since we are in a Bible study. Easier said than done, there is no doubt. Nonetheless, through the empowering work of the Holy Spirit, as Paul points out in Romans 8 and as Dr. Kevin highlights, we can do all things through Christ Jesus.
Now, this is a double-edged sword, in a sense. We can be pressured to be something we are not. We could be pressured to put on a cloak of holiness. We can be pressured to put on a cloak of ungodliness by the world around us.
What I find most appalling is when Christians put on a cloak of godliness and have hearts filled with bitterness towards one another, where there’s envy and strife, the maligning of one another’s character, and finger-pointing. It is probably the greatest sin in the Church.
I remember reading comments posted by Christians in their antagonism toward other views on Scripture and so forth, and they were pretty abrupt and abusive. The discussion of sin came up in one of their social media messages, and I commented, “The greatest sin in the Church today is people speaking evil of one another.”
The things we should obviously abstain from are easy to identify, but the things that are not easily identified are hidden under a cloak of righteousness. At the same time, in the heart there’s bitterness, strife, and hostility.
I want to point out that trauma can cause issues that need time and love from those who can minister to an individual who needs that extra love and attention. You will find that love is the greatest medicine. If you do not find that in the church you attend, know you are loved immeasurably by God – totally accepted.
Rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to make you into that New Creation from glory to glory. In the process of sanctification, don’t let pressures from one side or the other make you into something you are not. And you will find, even if you’re just a baby Christian, that if you have that Holy Spirit fire in you burning brightly, those that have a longer record (that is, have been a Christian for a longer period of time or are in a position of leadership in some form) will become jealous of that light and want to douse it. It’s the enemy. Don’t forget that. The Parable of the workers that come to the field and receive the same wages as those who labored throughout the heat of the day comes to mind.
I experienced this more than once in Christian circles where God was doing something fantastic, and then, before you knew it, instead of people being happy to see the work of the Lord, they wanted to put that light under a basket. Be careful, because it’s just the enemy working through them, even people in ministry in the faith. 1 Kings 13:9–26
Q ) 1. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 states that our purpose is to please God, not people. According to this verse, how do we become effective in this life?

This is where the rubber meets the road in a big way. You don’t want to be under the tire, and you don’t want to be gripping it in any way while it’s moving. You want to be the one riding comfortably, as you should, and the Holy Spirit places that yoke on you and guides you in the ministry He has called you to be in. I get an image of a tire rolling on a road; you don’t want to have anything to do with that tire, even if it’s just a bicycle tire, but you want it to be moving you along on the journey you’re supposed to be on. And if you live your life to please God, you will find this to be the case. Whether you’re trying to appease people who are “godly” or worldly, if you’re not wearing the armor God has designed for you, you will not be fulfilling that purpose as you should.
Q ) 2. God examines the motives of everyone’s heart. What is the benefit of examining and judging ourselves?

Well, this is the good part. This is what benefits us as believers if you are truly humble. I’m not there all the time; I don’t claim to be in that perfect spot. I am definitely not there all the time. But if we stay close through the washing of the Word, worship and prayer, Bible college, Bible lessons, and meditating on the Word of God, we will find ourselves able to look into that Gospel mirror and come to some valuations where we need to correct ourselves. I know I need that correction. And I thank God that He brings this to my mind and my heart so I can see what to refrain from. That’s one of my prayers.
I say it’s a benefit because the people in the world don’t have it. They can’t say, “Forgive me, I was wrong.” Sure, we see it sometimes, but without the Word of God in front of us, within us, and before us, it’s just too simple for us not to see things that can be changed and would make a great deal of difference in our lives.
Q ) 3. Discuss what happens when you make corrections while those around you resist the Lord. How can we be prepared to endure the separation that takes place?

It’s interesting; while doing the study, I can only think of individuals I know where that separation is very obvious. It’s necessary, unfortunately, but necessary on our part. We do not want to hold on to anything that hinders us. That is not ministry. Go forward with what the Lord has given you and apply it, not lingering in a place where the Spirit will not move.
Q ) 4. Many believers are stuck in a Romans 7 mentality when we should be living in Romans 8. Discuss the difference between Romans 7 and 8 according to this study.

It’s very profound and yet very simple. There’s a great, lengthy discussion in these two chapters, with very long statements. We get caught up striving in the things of this life, even religious things that serve really no purpose, and then in Romans 8, just relying on Scripture and the Holy Spirit and the powerful dynamic force that resides there within us and in the Word, we can overcome and live properly among other believers and the rest of the world as well.
Q ) 5. Take a moment to ask yourself, “Am I living to please God or seeking people’s approval?” Discuss what it means to live as a servant of Christ, according to Galatians 1:10.

So, you better please God. Don’t try to put on armor that a brother, sister, church leader, or minister suggests when it’s not your calling. We all have to serve and seek out our calling, so we have to start out someplace. But don’t try to force yourself to do what God has not called you to do.
Don’t try to please the world and its ways and have to back out, which I think a lot of us find ourselves in as we go out to the world and try to make a living. That does not mean you have to be a Pharisee, isolate yourself like a monk, and you don’t have to necessarily go to an extent that makes you feel uncomfortable on the other side of the fence either. And that is just fine. Many musicians have come to the Lord, and the Lord told them to keep ministering in that culture and let the world know who you are.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that by the Spirit of revelation and knowledge, our family all over the world would feel Your power and presence. Lord, I ask that You confirm the calling and election that we have in You so that everyone will start to feel settled in who You’ve made them to be. I pray that each one would feel loved and valued by the Spirit. In the name of Jesus, thank You for overthrowing the power of the enemy that’s working against my family through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. May everyone feel the power of Your love right now, in Jesus’ name, amen.
